I’m a bit behind on blogging my sessions, but this is definitely one of my favorites this year. I had the pleasure of a holiday mini session with little Liam in December so when his mom called me to book a family session I was thrilled! I had a blast with these two beautiful families, but Liam and his cousin Mason certainly stole the show:)

I have always enjoyed how the subjects of your pictures always appear so clear and sharp. IMHO, what’s even more impressive is that your backgrounds are consistently interesting and yet they don’t detract from, but instead enhance, your subjects. Do you think this is because of how you make your backgrounds less focused, your choice of site, or your overall “eye” that creates this effect? Great job as always!
Thanks Scott! To be honest… I sometimes start to edit a session only to realize that I’ve shot so close up, or so wide open (aperture, that is… making the fuzzy background) and think to myself, “Dang, I just drove to this beautiful location and you can’t even see it in the photos… I might as well have shot that session in a parking lot!” But I guess I find myself drawn to the look of the short depth of field because it does draw the eye to the subjects, and almost seems a bit dreamy:)
