A New Post for a New Year

Happy New Year!! Alright, I know… I’m running a little behind on that. I swear, I feel like I’ve been running in circles since before the holidays and I haven’t slowed down yet. Anybody out there feel the same?

I scheduled fewer portrait sessions as we neared Christmas because I really wanted to do  handmade holidays for 2013. Although I ended up doing more holiday shopping than I intended, I did get to make a set of Tampa Bay Lightning pajamas for my little brother, and this sweet little Totoro for Duncan with a little help from a great tutorial over at Cheek and Stitch. We’re big fans of Studio Ghibli:)

We also made some delicious Christmas cookies …and I probably ate more of them than I should have. If you’re ever looking for a quick and tasty recipe, you’ve got to check out Baking with Blondie’s red velvet crinkle cookies. I admit, I had to make an extra batch after eating one too many of the ones I made to bring to a party.

After the holidays, I took five minutes or so to relax before starting the Harley Davidson themed quillow I fully intended to make for my dad for Christmas. I realized too far into the holiday season that I was in over my head, but fortunately his birthday is January 14th… so I had just the bit of extra time I needed to get it done. The fancy stitches on my new sewing machine made this project super fun! 🙂

So now that the holidays are all boxed up and put away, I can start to think about planning our June wedding (you know, in addition to the photo sessions, crafting, blogging, and whatever else comes along). Since R.J. and I are artsy and craftsy, we’re hoping to have a whole lotta DIY for this shindig and it hit me the other day that we’ve only got six months to go. Holy crepe paper, Batman! No worries though, (deeeeep breeeeaaaaths…..) we’ve totally got this;)

So all that being said, I’d really like to create more bloggity goodness this year. And as you can see, photographer is just one of my alter egos, so I might just throw in a bit more of the crafty goodness and other fun things that come along… including Photoshop and Lightroom tutorials, portrait sessions, before & afters, crafts and sewing, free printables, and lots more.  Is there anything you’d like to see more of, photo related or otherwise? Please let me know in the comments!
