What I’m Working on Today | Wake Art Project

I’m home, sick from work, and of course I’m incapable of just falling asleep on the couch. So I pulled out the laptop today and got to work on my wake board design for the Wake Art Project. The Red Bull Wake Open is coming back to Tampa in July and Red Bull has teamed up with Kick Start My Art to bring back the project. Last year, R.J. was a one of the featured artists chosen to paint a wake board depicting what gives them wings. I’m honored to say that I was asked to join the project this year! …but as always, I’ve put it off to the last minute. What can I say? I am, above all things, a procrastinator:)

So, what gives me wings? Creation. You can probably guess that I enjoy creating photographs, but I also love to paint, sew, crochet, doodle, you name it! My wake board will be a crazy combination of those loves, a mixed media piece with photo, paint, and a bit of stitchery.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve tried my hand at self portraiture, but I think the photo below  turned out well (especially for an in-kitchen, one flash quick studio set up) and I had quite a bit of fun with the photoshoppery. This is one of the mini me’s that will be featured on the wake board (a wink and a nod to my waiting to the last minute to do anything and everything:) ). She’s all I can show you for now, but I’ll try to keep you posted on my progress!

The mini me of you is wicked! That’s going to look great on the board. Hope you are feeling better soon!
